When something in your home breaks and needs to be fixed, you want the peace of mind that you get when you call family, a trusted friend or a neighbor in your community. We feel the same way. And that's how we operate our business. Henlopen Overhead Door is a locally owned and operated residential garage door business serving the community of Lewes, Delaware and neighboring towns in Sussex County. Our services include routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of existing garage doors. And if it's time for a new door, we offer sales and installation of top quality overhead doors.
Yoder Overhead Door was started in 1989 by Mr Leon Yoder. The business started in Laurel Delaware at the home of Mr. Yoder. Doors were stored in a shed adjacent to the house. In 1999, Mr Leon moved out of the area and sold Yoder Overhead Door Co to friends of his, the Bear brothers. The Bear brothers, moved the company out along Route 13 to 11125 National Blvd. The new facility needed some fixing up but provided the business with ample warehouse space and high visibility along Rt. 13. In 2015 the rent lease expired and the business moved to North Laurel Plaza Rd. The new facility was much smaller than the previous which made operations a little more hectic. Thankfully, the move was temporary and would only last until a new facility could be built. In 2017, construction of the current location was completed and the business moved once again. Although it is a work in progress, the new building offers, a larger warehouse, more office space and a better showroom.
My father started this business in 1976. Eventually passing the business to myself. After his retirement, the business has grown and offers all facets of construction. Specializing in roofing, renovations, paving, sealcoating, striping, and renovations.
We have been in and around the business our whole lives. My father was a contractor, grandfather was a plumber, and numerous uncles who are also contractors. We strive for greatness in every aspect of the business.
Contractors are required to be licensed in Virginia. There are two features of a contractor license. The first one is the class of license which determines the cost of projects that may be performed and the second is the classification/specialty of license, which determines what works are permitted.
To look up if a contractor's license has an active status or check a contractor's disciplinary history, a homeowner should use License Lookup tool.
Performing construction or demolition of structure, you are required by the State of Virginia a permit to be obtained. Building permits are issued by the local departments (cities and counties) in Virginia. Homeowners should verify with permit office to see if they need a building permit or where they should file their application.
