Derek Lyons, the owner and operator of Garage Door Guy, began his career as a garage door technician in 2009 as a means to provide for him and his new bride after relocating to Arizona to accept an unpaid youth ministry position at a small church. Derek quickly mastered the skills and fell in love with the trade. The idea for Garage Door Guy came to him during his time with this small family run operation, but the timing was just not right. In 2014, God brought Derek and his wife Regina to Springfield, MO and, with over 5 years experience in the field, Derek quickly found another garage door technician job. It was almost a year later in 2015 when Derek would finally see his dreams become a reality. With the full support of his loving wife and friends he'd met along the way Garage Door Guy was finally born.
Started in 2016, we are a small business with huge plan's. I worked for other companies, both large and small. I worked on jobs both large and small. Done anything from changing an outlet to building a house. I take pride in everything that I have done. But working for these other companies, Not all of them, but most of them, had one fault in common, Greed. I watched companies over charge the homeowners, and under pay there crew members. The most common result was, The homeowners paid top dollar, to have work done. The work done by under paid, angry crews. The work suffered because the crew felt unappreciated, and mistreated. I have a small crew that I believe in. I take pride in everything they do. I work alongside my guys, and treat them fairly and with respect. I don't charge the high prices most companies do, and I try to pay every person on my crew what they are worth. By doing that it gives me the ability to have cheaper prices, and higher quality workers.
Missouri does not issue a statewide electrical, plumbing, handyman and general contractor license and delegates licensing and permitting process to the local permitting authority of the city the contractor works in. So a contractor you consider to hire must be in compliance with any local jurisdiction regulations.
