Angelo Building Specialties began its first growth phase in the mid 1970s through the sale of replacement hollow metal doors as a lead product line, and through healthy sales of replacement partition units for restrooms in industrial settings. ABS also enjoyed a fair bit of sales of a full range garage door replacements. This sales growth period happened during the building boom that happened in San Angelo during this period, and we were there to meet the need in all these market sectors.
Because of this business boom, ABS was able to safely weather the following market downturn that took place during the depressed building market of the 1980s caused by the oil crunch. As anyone who lives in this area knows, many businesses suffered or disappeared entirely during these several years of depressed economic conditions.
