VIP Special Services started out as a small window washing route from my apartment in 2004. From there I moved onto houses and other small commercial jobs. Our first big jobs were subcontracting for large Janitorial Companies. Once we established ourselves as a reliable subcontractor the company expanded quickly, so I formed VIP Special Services, LLC on April 12, 2005. VIP is recognized as an SBE by the SBA and VIP is a Certified SDVOSB and HUBZone Business. Our Client base grows a little more every year. Not to say there were not difficulties and challenges along the way, there were plenty, 2009-2012 were particularly challenging, but we stuck with what works and kept moving forward until we persevered. I have been told by my counterparts that my most valuable asset as a company owner and leader, is that I never, ever quit. When things inevitably go wrong, we will find a safe and amicable solution.
New Jersey state laws require any contractors or subcontractors who sell or make home improvements to be registered with compliance to "Contractors' Registration Act".
However, construction permits are issued, as before, by the municipalities in which contractors are working.
A Contractor must be sure to use a written contract if a project costs more than $500.
Any person who makes improvement project of a home he(she) or his(her) family member owns is not required to registered as contractor.
Before hiring a contractor, make sure that they have a valid license and that their skills are appropriate for the job you are planning.
