Midwest Sheet Metal Company was started in 1950 by Gene Murray. In the late 1950's Gene and his wife chose to move to Kearney, NE. At this time, Kenneth Hilligas brought his brother Lewis back from Colorado to where their roots began, invested in the business, incorporated in 1960 as Midwest Sheet Metal Co., Inc. Shortly after the corporate name remained but a DBA was developed to better identify with our full service offerings within the industry. We are now more commonly known to be Midwest Heating and Air Conditioning.
Lew soon after took charge and operated as Owner/General Manager of the company, leading the way until his retirement in 1994. Many of the great relationships he developed while in charge carry on to this day.
Scott, Ken's son, returned to Midwest Heating and Air Conditioning in 1984 and worked in residential sales. In 1988, still working sales, Scott took the reins as Service Manager and continued with this until becoming General Manager upon Lew's retirement.
