The story of Air Controls begins in 1972. Al Schaff, our current owner, was working for a furnace repair business in Colorado. He was ready to do more, but the Colorado company didn’t want to share ownership, so he quit and headed north. Along with a few partners, he decided to start a heating and cooling business in Billings. Though the business initially operated out of a small garage, within a few years of starting, Al continued his dream of running and owning a business. His son, Chris Schaff, was given the roll of General Manager, and Chris is still leading the company today. Chris moved from the Bozeman shop to the Billings shop in 2002, and he continues to maintain and rebrand the company’s reputation. Chris firmly believes relationships and employees are the reason we are where we are today.
