Midwest Air Filter
Ross A Mutersbaugh moved to Lansing, MI to start Air Filter Service Company, after he sold another Filter Company in Detroit, MI in 1950. His son, Stanley W. Mutersbaugh came to the company in 1954, & acquired ownership in 1959. Stan and his partner, Neal DeVries incorporated the business in 1966, as Midwest Air Filter, Inc.
In 1978 the company opened a branch office & warehouse in Grand Rapids, MI. Richard Alban, the former general manager, is credited with transforming the company into the computer age in the early 1980's.
In 1992, William R. Down, a regional manager for Airguard Industries, Inc., acquired control and became President of the company. A branch office and warehouse was opened up in Kalamazoo in 1996 & the Fort Wayne, Indiana operation in 1999. An additional sales office was in Detroit, MI in 2000.
Bill Down passed away in 2013. Midwest Air Filter was acquired by his daughter, Marcia Down Shoham, and son-in-law, Jonathan Shoham, on May 1, 2013.
