First Call Jewel was started by Al and Jewel Bidstrup as a small electrical service shop. The origional building was a small shed in thier backyard on 9th street. Soon, they moved to the corner of Whittier and Holmes. As the business grew, a second story was added. In those days, the business consisted mostly of electrical contracting and motor rewinding. Before the death of Al, his sons Lyn and Chris purchased the business. They shut down the motor repair shop and focused more on selling electrical parts and providing electrical service to homes and businesses. Heating and Air conditioning service was added. Lyn's son Bob purchased the business in 1998 and added plumbing services to the company.
