The company was founded by Luther Morris, who started out with a pick-up truck, a tool shed and an idea. Luther had a very simple business philosophy: do what's right by the customer. Dewey Jenkins purchased the company in 1990. After 32 years in business, the original "Morris Heating & Cooling Co." had 12 employees, a reputation for honesty and quality, but virtually no service division. Dewey has continued Luther's policy of honesty, but also added another philosophy: make it easy for the customer to do business with us. Like all other heating and air companies in Charlotte, Morris-Jenkins was only open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and provided limited emergency service beyond those hours, when Dewey took over in 1990. Seeking to meet customer's needs, Morris-Jenkins became the first heating and air company to offer evening and weekend service at no additional charge.
