H.S.I. is a full service abatement contractor headquartered in Rapid City, South Dakota. The reputation of the Horsley name can be tracked back over 45 years ago when our sister company, Horsley Painting, was founded. Over the years, Horsley Painting earned its recognition as a leader in commercial and industrial finishes. In 1983, the company branched into the abatement industry and incorporated in 1986 under the name of Asbestos, Inc. In 1993 when the company further diversified into the field of lead abatement, our name was proudly changed to Horsley Specialties, Inc.
Our service area includes the Midwest Region from the borders of Canada to Mexico with teams that are dedicated to understanding the customers' needs and concerns in dealing with environmentally sensitive projects.
Any building project to be performed in South Dakota that is not exempt pursuant to 36-18A-9 must be constructed by South Dakota licensed design contractors.
You do not need to be licensed to supervise or plan building changes or renovations unless it makes significant changes to the mechanical, electrical or structural systems and does not violate a building safety code. In this way, interior designers can design non-structural store facades, interior changes or additions, fixtures, cabinets, furniture, and any non-structural work required to install them.
Change orders or additional documents that require changes to construction documents must be sealed, signed and dated by the licensed person responsible for the changes.
