Poor John's Plumbing was founded by Daryl Welker in 1987. He created the company in hopes of providing a better living situation for his family. He met his wife and business partner in 1995. They ran the business together until 2014. Their son and nephew now operate the business to carry on their legacy.
Nathan Taylor currently owns this third generation family business. His grandfather, Howard 'Toe' Taylor started the business in 1950. 'Toe's' son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Cheryl bought the business in 1980. Taylor Plumbing is an integral part of the community involved with the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce, several working committees that support various charitable organizations, school functions and community events.
We are based in Platte City, Missouri, where we have been for over 50 years. We are a member of the Platte City Area Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Council.
Missouri does not issue a statewide electrical, plumbing, handyman and general contractor license and delegates licensing and permitting process to the local permitting authority of the city the contractor works in. So a contractor you consider to hire must be in compliance with any local jurisdiction regulations.
