In 1952, Major Thompson started manufacturing metal louver vents for attic ventilation to replace the wood louvers currently produced at lumber yards. Proving to be a better product they would soon expand the product line into metal roof flashings and become a one stop shop for metal roofing products. James Walker Rawlings, known by his customers as "Jim" took over and introduced new product lines which included chimney caps and roof ornamentals which included finials, cupolas and full dormers. Carrying on the family business Jim's son, James Forrest Rawlings took the reigns in 1999 and would usher in a new era where old world knowledge would meet future tech. He soon developed the ability to expand manufacturing capabilities to precisely match the customer's needs. Today Metalaire Louver moves product across the United States and continues to research new methods in the manufacturing process.
