Established by Charles Odermann, Fiddler on the Flue is now run by his son-in-law William Willis and daughter Leah, each with over 10 years of experience in the field. Many of our customers have had either Chuck or Willie cleaning their chimney for over 20 years. Although Chuck has recently retired, he is still available to provide valuable technical support and experience.

William Andrews had worked for residential construction businesses since the time he was old enough to swing a hammer. He was building fine luxury boats on Mount Desert Island when he decided to venture out on his own and start his own small business. Cashly Builders was created after his 2 oldest daughters were born, Ashley and Cassidy. He wanted to include them in the business and came up with the name Cashly by combining their two names together. Both girls have taken pride in working side by side with their father throughout the years. William and Cashly Builders have created many commercial buildings throughout Downeast Maine. From doctors offices in Bangor, to Hannafords in Millbridge, to Linnehans Right Way Auto in Ellsworth, and the Smoke House in Hancock there are few roads Downeast that he hasn't worked on. Scattered throughout Maine are numerous residential homes he has built or remodeled.
It was the summer of 1898. The newspapers were filled with accounts of Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders' charge up San Juan Hill, a new breakfast food called Corn Flakes had been introduced by William Kellogg, and summer residents of Northeast Harbor were enjoying the novelty of sending picture post cards, newly authorized by the United States Post Office. The summer of 1898 was an eventful one for Belle Smallidge, the town librarian. Early in the season, a young couple wandered into the library looking for a summer rental. Belle offered to assist them, and before she knew it, she was working full time finding rental properties for other visitors to Northeast Harbor. Thus was launched Mount Desert Island's oldest and most successful real estate and vacation rental firm.
