I started in new home construction as a young man. I moved to Los Angeles when I was 27 and installed custom kitchens in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu, and the Hollywood Hills. There was a significant amount of remodeling involved with this as well. I also built some very nice one of a kind custom homes up in the hills. I worked on Pickfair which is the home that Douglas Fairbanks built for Mary Pickford and presented to her while opening a jewelry box with a huge "rock" and saying "Will you marry me?" The house had become frail due to dry rot and termite infestation. The owner of the Belagio Casino in Las Vegas bought the property and hired the company I worked for to tear down the original house and rebuild it to the exact same dimensions with the exception of adding an elevator as the house was four stories. With all of that experience, I feel that I have a creative advantage. I worked in commercial construction for five years and finally came full circle back to decks.
