R-Value Concrete Structures got its start when the owner Jake Vierzen attended the World of Concrete and was exposed to ICF's for the first time. He saw some great potential for the concept, but found that many people who were familiar with them as builders or subcontractors had a distaste for them due to poor installations, usually by do it yourselfers. Having 10 years in as a commercial poured wall contractor already he was that clearly there was nothing inherently wrong with the concept, so in 2004 he formed an installation company to fill the gap in the market for prefessional installers. Many, many pours and projects have taught them that the manufacturers recommendations are often not adequate, and helped them develop a system to ensure good installations every time.
I have been in the home repair business since I was a young 10 year old boy, helping my father build and/or repair homes. Once I was old enough I decided to continue in my fathers footsteps and became a construction worker of all trades. I worked building pole barns for Post frame Buildings until 2014, then as a commercial roofer for Great Lakes Systems until 2017 when I decided to start my own handyman service.

Thermal-Tec originally started as an insulation company founded by Earl Siterlet. Over time he began to notice a pattern with customers. Buildings with leaky roofs would let in water that compromised the insulation. In 1983, Thermal-Tec developed the MR Multi-Ply® Roofing System, a revolutionary product in the roofing industry. By combining layers of asphalt with a polyester membrane and UV-reflecting granules, Thermal-Tec succeeded in creating a flexible, lightweight system that could adhere directly to an existing roof without fasteners. In 1994, son, Robert Siterlet, and daughter, Linda Blanchard, purchased the business from Earl. They have continued Thermal-Tec's mission of providing the highest quality roofing system and exceeding customer expectations by maintaining integrity, service, quality, and professionalism Starting with small local farms and manufacturing facilities in Michigan, Thermal-Tec has expanded to serve customers in every state east of the Mississippi.
