Generations down the line Roofing has been in my family for quite a long time. I am third generation and hoping my two sons will take over the business one day.
My name is Joseph (Joe) Smith and over 20 years ago I began learning about carpentry and home construction from my grandfathers. Since then, I have worked on many home repair and renovation projects for friends, family, and in my own home. However, my love for the outdoors led me to pursue a career in biology. I received my Masters in Fisheries and Wildlife Science from NC State and for the past 8 years I have worked as a fisheries biologist. Although this was often a rewarding career, I began to find greater satisfaction in the home repair and carpentry side projects that I worked on throughout the years. There is something to be said about the power of tangible results and the feeling one gets from a job well done. For me, fixing or building things for friends, family, and my own home was a tremendous source of gratification. So, I decided to leave the watery world behind to pursue that "job-well-done" feeling...one home improvement project at a time
