A partner in a building supply company, founder & owner Thomas Patterson left the commercial industry to establish The Window Man. His experience in the price-driven commercial industry lead Tom to the residential replacement Industry where he would be able to create a replacement window & door company that was value-driven. Tom opened The Window Man in 1989 to be the Educational Window Company of the DC Metropolitan area. In the mid-nineties The Window Man became the area dealer for Mon-Ray/DeVAC windows. This relationship introduced The Window Man into the commercial industry. This partnership allowed us to work with architects, structural engineers, and acoustical engineers on many large and small scale projects and developed strong relationships with local historical, acoustical, and federal project boards. In 1999 The Window Man moved our showroom to Fairfax, Va. We opened our second showroom in Alexandria Va in the Summer of 2007.

Contractors are required to be licensed in Virginia. There are two features of a contractor license. The first one is the class of license which determines the cost of projects that may be performed and the second is the classification/specialty of license, which determines what works are permitted.
To look up if a contractor's license has an active status or check a contractor's disciplinary history, a homeowner should use License Lookup tool.
Performing construction or demolition of structure, you are required by the State of Virginia a permit to be obtained. Building permits are issued by the local departments (cities and counties) in Virginia. Homeowners should verify with permit office to see if they need a building permit or where they should file their application.
