Floyd and Gladys Whitaker started Whitaker Hardware over 60 years ago. They leased out sections of the building to other businesses over the years and when they got ready to retire they asked their younger son, Ron Whitaker if he would take over. Ron and his wife Tina moved back from Colorado in 1977 and soon added wallpaper, while dropping the hardware. Eventually they expanded their operation into the rest of the building and took on custom drapery, shades and blinds, followed later by adding carpet and vinyl flooring. Ron and Tina continue to own and oversee Whitaker's yet today.
Oregon law requires all contractors and subcontractors performing work in the state of Oregon to be licensed.
Licensed contractors are bonded and insured and can be more easily held accountable in the event of a problem. Should you need information about whether your Siding contractor is to be licensed, contact Consumer Help Center by 503-378-4621. The most accurate way to find a license is with the CCB (Oregon Construction Contractors Board) license number. Contractors must include this number on their advertisements, including brochures, websites, and business cards. Ask your contractor for the number and verify contractor's recent history of disciplinary actions on https://www.ccb.state.or.us/search/ yourself if necessary.
