Southwest Fire Defense LLC., was founded in 2014 by Daniel A. Martinez, a lifelong resident raised in Northern New Mexico. Daniel has been a firefighter for the past seven years, starting as a volunteer in his hometown.
Nearing the end of a ten year career as a Professional cyclist, I went back to my roots and started Woodchuck Tree Service. I grew up working with trees and happened across an opportunity to get back into the family business.
Owner Jed Bailey is a certified arborists who has trimmed hundreds of miles worth of trees along power lines in LaPlata and Archuleta County. Starting in 2008 with LPEA’S line clearance crew Jed developed a love for climbing that lead to the opening of Cutting Edge Tree Worx in 2014 and has proudly been serving the 4 Corners area since.
New Mexico Laws allow a homeowner to act as the general contractor for constructing or altering their primary residence and obtain required project permits without becoming a licensed contractor. The homeowner must comply with all provisions of CILA, regulations, standards and codes including requirements for workers compensation insurance. If hiring employees homeowners must perform all Taxation & Revenue Department reporting requirements. All homeowner's subcontractors are required to be licensed and permitted their own work.
