Company founder, Erik H. Haupt, worked his way through college doing tree work while attending Colgate. After graduating from Colgate, Erik served in the Marine Corps as an Engineer Equipment Officer before starting his tree company. The Marine Corps had a great influence on the initial organization of his company, which had a distinctive military flare. Emphasis on Tree Care & Preservation From the beginning, Erik wanted the emphasis of his new company to be about tree care and preservation, when most tree companies at the time focused primarily on their tree removal services. He took pride in the appearance of his equipment and provided his crew with uniforms and safety equipment such as hard hats... something that was uncommon at the time. Organization, customer service, professionalism, safety and knowledgeable quality work were the priorities of his new company. The Haupt Tree Company has cared for the trees at many properties for over 50 years.
Many of our team members have a background in aerial adventure park construction, so starting a tree service was a natural progression. We started off exclusively climbing trees with ropes and harnesses. We now have a suite of specialized equipment, but still need to climb in certain situations.
K.E. Hughes & Sons Expert Tree Service is a family business that dates back almost eight decades. Our grandfather started Veterans Expert Tree Service in 1936. The business was put on hold during WWII to fight for America, upon his return from the war he restarted the tree service as D.E. Hughes & Sons Expert Tree Service. For 80 years our family tree company has done nothing but tree work. That is experience!! We set up estimates around your schedule and show up on time! We give a fair and reasonable estimate based on your tree care needs on the first estimate. We do not over bid and then give you a major discount to get the job like some of the other tree companies. Our Grandfather always said "Give the best price first, not last". That is professional!!
