The Lee Company was founded in Ada, OK, by Bill Lee in 1945. John Green went to work for The Lee Co. in the early 1950s. Mr. Lee continued to expand the business including the purchase of Opal Art Glass Studio in Stillwater, OK. On Jan. 16, 1956, Mr. Green and family moved to Stillwater. Originally, the company was heavily into paint supplies and was just getting started in the glass business. In 1961, the business relocated to 10th & Main - past location of Shannon Feed and the local roller rink. Mr. Green purchased the Stillwater store in 1973 and the Ada store (changing the name to Green's Glass) in 1975. Also, in 1975, The Taylor Window Company of Drumright, OK was acquired. Taylor was a manufacturer of storm and replacement windows. Walt Green (John's brother) moved to Stillwater to oversee the new window plant. Walt retired in 1993. In 1982, Steven Green (John's son) came on "full time" serving in a variety of roles. Steve became Owner of Lee Glass and Window, LLC in 2017.
